NOW DUE!!! World Golden Oldies Festival Deposits. Be Sure to print a form and send in your deposit before the 15th Septamber. Don't miss out on your place.

From The President

After some technical issues it's great so see the newsletter back in circulation. It's a bumper edition with lots of news to tell you about.

We've had a few games played since the last newsletter and we've been invited to the Bathurst Old Bulls Gala day on the 22nd September, so be sure to lets us know if your coming so we can arrange accommodation if required.

Also, it's that time to secure your place on the World Golden Oldies Festival Edinburgh in September 2008. Deposits go toward booking your festival place and the accommodation. We need to act quickly as the cheaper accommodation is filling up and we'd like to keep the overall costs down. Go to the link on the website to see the information regarding the festival and the pre-tour.

Planning is underway for our end of year bash and it's looking like a great night with live entertainment to be held at the Gordon Club on the 24th November. Put it in your social calendar today.

Deposits Now Due  For World Golden Oldies Festival

Scotland is only 12 months away and we need to confirm our participation at the festival and secure our accommodation. As you can imaging the cheap seats are selling fast.

At this time we have budget estimates, it's pretty hard to get tour companies and airlines to confirm prices 12 months out. We will have final prices and confirmation of the pre-tour by 1st December 2007.

Deposit Payable is $500.00 per person

Your deposit is refundable less 50 pounds ($100) prior to 31st December 2007 so don't miss out, print a registration form and send in your deposit prior to the 15th September 2007.

As a guide, at the moment the approximate costs look something like;

AUD$5,900 - Festival and the Pre-Tour including Air Fares, Accommodation and the Festival Costs.

AUD$4,250 - Festival only including Air Fares and Accommodation

AUD$2,500 - Festival only including Accommodation. Perfect for those who want to organise their own travel and tours, especially if you're lucky enough to be able to cash in frequent flyers points.

Someone Remembers !!!!

We finally found someone who hasn't got Old Timers Disease or killed too many brain cells during their Rugby tours to provide us with a history, and photos, of the Gordon Stags from the start. As the Stags were formed for the first Golden Oldies Festival we've added the story to our History Page.

Check out this photo of the first Stags side. Is that really a Priest in the back row?

Thanks to Peter Goodman, one of the original Stags, for the History and the Photos. We look forward to more stories from the Stags past.

Pheatured Photo

Well it's been a while since our last Pheatured photo so we'll include a couple here to entice you to go to the 2007 Photo Album.

Truth is, you don't need any encouragement. The Photo Gallery is the most viewed page on the website with more than 28,000 hits. The next nearest is the Matches page with 450, You guys sure like checking out yourselves ..er, Rugby photos.

It's not all Rugby and beer at  the games. There's always a little time to practice our synchronised ballet moves. Apparently it's the wild card event at next years Olympics.

All Together Now.........

During the game is also the best time to work on those Yoga moves. Here's Lloyd showing a surprising degree of flexibility as he presents the ball at the ruck. That reminds me, must get a new bike rack.

Kooky Kaption

Surprisingly we didn't get too many responses to the Kooky Kaption competition. Thank God for one Stag who took to it whole heartedly sending in many responses and even being prepared to brainstorm around the BBQ during the Gordon Games. The prize goes to Brad Horan for his response re-printed below.

Just what is our President, Bob Lollback saying to Matt Fowler ????

"Well, I didn't go blind but you probably don't want to take the chance"

Okay, we didn't say it was good but it was the best of the bunch. Brad can pick up his free, all expenses paid, beer at the next game of the end of year function.
