  Newsletter - March 2007

COMING SOON!! Our great new online shop! The only place to buy all your Gordon gear.

From The President

Hello everyone and welcome to our second newsletter. It's a little bit late as we've been organising a few things that we wanted to get into this newsletter.

In future we'll be aiming to get them to you and the start of the month to ensure you know about all the upcoming activities well in advance. In the meantime we appreciate your patience whilst we get a handle on getting things sorted out with the website, which is looking great, and using the newsletter.

Things are really starting to get into the swing of it as we approach the start of the season and the web site just keeps growing, be sure to visit often.

Matt Prowse has done a great job organising games for the season so check out the matches section of the newsletter and be sure to confirm your attendance as this really helps with planning.

On a more social note Matt Fowler has got things going with a pre-season get together. Get behind Matt and let him know if you can make it. It's a great opportunity to get together for a family day out.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the pre season get together and then we'll be off to the ACT for a bit of rugga.

Also, don't forget to check out the BBQ roster and let me know when you can help out.

See you then.

Bob

Newsletters

Our first newsletter hit email and letter boxes in February and has been an instant success. Each month we'll bring you the news on upcoming and past matches and events as well as general information to keep all the Stags in the loop.

Hope you enjoy the newsletter and if you have anything to input or feedback please send it to newsletter@gordonstags.org.au and we'll look after it for you.

You know we love a good story or two and a photo would be nice so any participation is most welcome.

To Subscribe, Unsubscribe, view current or past newsletters, simply go to the Newsletters page of our website. You can even view a printable version by clicking on the link at the top of the newsletter, this is the version that goes out to all out non-email readers.

World Golden Oldies Festival Scotland

The Scotland trip will soon be upon us and we've arranged a payment plan for those wanting to confirm their intention to go and make it a bit easier on the pocket when the time comes.

The tour will cost a total of approximately AUD$5,900 per person including a 7 day pre tour and the festival and return airfares. To learn more go to our Festivals page and read all about it. We've updated the website with all the details of the pre-tour and the festival itself so be sure to check it out.

The trip is only 18 months away and will be here before you know it.

The easy payment plan will enable you to pay approximately $3000 towards the trip prior to final payments being required. Payments of $200 per month can be made quarterly by registering with John Finch. John will provide details of how to send payments.

Register now by contacting John Finch via our Contacts Page and start planning for Scotland.

Pheatured Photo

The Photo Gallery is growing all the time and we've received some great photos.  Each month we'll show a Pheatured Photo from our growing library of fond memories.

Check out this one of Matt Prowse in full flight, a sight never to be seen again with the discovery of his "self exploding" knee. Rumour has it he'll be coming out to trot around the forwards this season, will he be first to the breakdown or the first to breakdown? ....... MEDIC!!!

Go you good thing! GO!

You can view this and others in the "Blasts from the Past" section of our photo gallery. We'll keep this growing as we receive more photos, so keep them coming to website@gordonstags.org.au

Photo Gallery Features

Want to leave comments .....    Probably against my better judgement we've now added the functionality to add comments for photos so if you'd like to register please click here to send me an email and I'll set you up.

Have fun posting your thoughts on the photos but remember to keep it clean as I don't want to become the censorship police.

BBQ Roster

As is usual the Gordon Stags are manning the BBQ at all the Highlanders home games. With increased sponsorship from the club it's important that we do our best to show our support.

Tipping Comp

With the super 14's well under way so is the tipping competition. There's not many tipsters but the competition is fierce with Tracy the self-confessed "Footy Chick" who freely admits "I don't have a clue what I'm doing" giving the boys a lesson in tipping.

After week 6 the standings are;

  Rank Player Score
1 Tracy Everson (Tracy Evo) 184
  2 Mark Cummins (msc1) 180
  3 Matthew Fowler (Matt466) 175
  4 Kerry Turner (KT) 170
  5 Matt Prowse (Skygod) 166
  6 Brad Horan (krackers) 162
7 Camilo Santana (The Yank) 161
  8 Karl Houghton (Karl) 154
  9 rodney smith (leroy_au) 150
  10 Barry Carr (barrycarr) 141
  11 Craig Ryan (scaryfeet) 131

To put this in context, the overall competition leaders are;

  Rank Player Score
  1 ryannie 242
  2 cookmesomeeggs 238
  3 cube 236
  4 SportsTragic 233
  4 Timbo69 233

It's early days and with 6 points for picking the winner and a whopping 10 points for picking the correct margin and 20 for a draw things can change pretty quickly. I hope so or things will never be the same in the Houghton household again.

The Wheels on the Bus go 'round and 'round, 'round and 'round....

For those interested in making the trip to Canberra Bob Lollback has organised a 14 seater bus. It'll cost about $20 per head for rental and fuel but will certainly take the hassle out of driving.

As with all these things it's first in, best dressed so click here to send Bob an email, or call him on 0418 118 906 to reserve your spot(s).

Bob will be leading the sing along.

Speaking of trips................

Alice? Who the heck is Alice?

Yeah, I cleaned it up.... anyway...

Don't forget guys The Alice Springs Dingoes, the team we partnered up with at the Wellington Festival, have invited us to come out and see them and play a bit of rugby sometime in September or October.

Anyone interested please let Matt Prowse know by clicking here to send him an email or give Bob a call 0418 118 906.

Social Events

Pre Season BBQ

With the season just about to start what better excuse is there than a BBQ to get all the guys and their families together for some "bonding".

Where: Lane Cove National Park, Lady Game Drive Chatswood

When: Sunday 25th March 2007

Time: 11:00 till whenever, probably finish by 4 - it is a school night after all

We'll organise the steak, sausages, bread rolls and some salad items. You bring along your drinks and any additional food items you require.

Apart from the obvious eating and drinking there'll be some fun for the families, a game of backyard cricket and maybe a game of touch footy. you can even go boating on the Lane Cove river if the mood takes you.

Join in or simply watch, either way it'll be lots of fun and a good day out.

We've arranged a wet weather alternative so don't panic we'll contact you on the day if need be.

Click here to send Matt Fowler an email or call him on 0434 036 087 to let him know you'll be coming and how many of you there so we can get the planning under way.
