As is usual after the World Golden Oldies Festival
the Gordon Stags Golden Oldies Committee meet to hold the elections to appoint new
committee members.
This year Karl Houghton was elected President.
Karl has been with the Golden Oldies since 2003. Since then he has
taken on the duties of Equipment officer and, more recently, Games
Organiser. He has sponsored and created the Gordon Stags website and
newsletter and was involved in organising the tour to the 2008
festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, which included 40 people from both
the Stags and the Orange Emus embarking on a 8 day tour of England
and Scotland.
John Finch was re-elected Treasurer having held
the position since 1991. As a a retired member of the Banking
fraternity we know are in very good financial management hands.
Mark Cummins retains his position of Vice
President and is sure to be a great assistance to our new president.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Bob
Lollback for all his work as President over the last two years and
ensuring the tour to the Edinburgh Festival was a complete success. It is greatly appreciated.
Of course Bob's presence won't be too far away as he has taken the
committee role of Social Organiser.
We'd also like to make special mention of Bob's
wife Lyn who provided Bob and the club with fantastic support during
his tenure as President. Lyn was always there to man, or is that
woman?, the canteen at all the Gordon home games and ensuring the
festival tour and end of year events ran without a hitch. Thanks
again Lyn we really appreciate all your support.

Unfortunately during the last couple of years
we lost a couple of committee members due to other commitments. Our
thanks go out to Bill Banham, Matt Prowse and Matt Fowler for their
help.
We desperately need more committee members to
fill their shoes. There's always small jobs to do and it doesn't
take much time. The committee meets at 12pm the first Thursday of
every month in the bistro at the Gordon Club.
The types of activities we do are;
- Manning the Highlander BBQ
- Fund raising for the Stags
- Organising Games, Tours & Festivals
- Organising Social events
- Managing equipment and ground setup
- Representing the Stags at away games and
functions
The committee welcomes all to come along and be
involved in the running of your club - see you there!!
