World Golden Oldies Festival

The Scotland trip will soon be upon us and we've updated all the details of the festival and pre-tour organised by the Gordon Stags.

We've managed to get a great deal with International Sports Tours that not only gives us an extra night on the pre tour but also reduces the cost from the originally quoted $5,900 to give everyone more bang for their buck, here's the details;  more.......

SPECIAL OFFER!!! - MATES RATES!!!

Okay, before I start let me preface this by saying it is going to be an advertorial but this is one with a difference. In this one we both get something.

The Gordon Stags website is hosted through Smarty Host. We've got a great offer that has us hosted for the next 20 years for a one off cost including all their power tools like the Photo Gallery, Shop and Blog. I'm going to see about using the Blog during the Festival to give all those at home daily updates.

So why am I telling you this?

They have a special offer called MATES RATES and we all know what that means...........yep, discounts for our friends. The best part about this off though is that we get a kick back too. more.......

Deposits Now Due  For World Golden Oldies Festival

Scotland is only 12 months away and we need to confirm our participation at the festival and secure our accommodation. As you can imaging the cheap seats are selling fast.

At this time we have budget estimates, it's pretty hard to get tour companies and airlines to confirm prices 12 months out. We will have final prices and confirmation of the pre-tour by 1st December 2007.  Deposit Payable is $500.00 per person  more.......

Someone Remembers !!!!

We finally found someone who hasn't got Old Timers Disease or killed too many brain cells during their Rugby tours to provide us with a history, and photos, of the Gordon Stags from the start. As the Stags were formed for the first Golden Oldies Festival we've added the story to our History Page.     more.......

April 2007

Players Insurance

With the season underway it's timely to remind players of the importance of being covered by players insurance, just ask Matt Prowse.

Each year the club plays an annual premium to cover all playing members of the Gordon Stags. The $5.00 paid at each game by the players is a contribution towards this premium and does not automatically ensure coverage.    more.......

World Golden Oldies Festival Edinburgh, Scotland

Planning for the Edinburgh Festival is well underway with various options for the pre-tour being looked at. All these are aimed at reducing the overall cost. more.......

April Pheatured Photo

With the season underway some great shots are being taken of the games thanks to our unofficial photographer. Be sure to check out all the great action shots from our 2007 Photo Album. It was a close call for the Pheatured Photo this month with plenty to choose from. With some good games of Rugby being played we thought it more fitting to show one of the great photos of the boys in action.  more.......

ACT Game Report

For our usual first game of the season a group of Stags made the trip down the Hume Highway to the ACT to play in the annual April Fools Day Tournament hosted by ACT Veterans Rugby....   more.......

Eastwood Game Report

The Eastwood Rugby club had a very special day to celebrate 60 years since their first game in the competition, which was against Gordon, and also 50 years since the first televised game against Gordon. On the Saturday 7th April 2007, Eastwood also played Gordon, which was very appropriate. more.......

CLick to View Larger VersionWarringah Game Report

Another great game of Rugby played in the sunshine at Chatswood as we lined up against the Warringah Wrinkled Rats.

Due to a referee not being arranged for the match, just whose job is that?, Bob Lollback, Matt Prowse and Karl Houghton took turns at controlling the game with some fairly loose, some would say strange, interpretations of the rules. more.......

Collaroy & Engadine Game Report

Collaroy & Engadine made the trip to Chatswood on Sunday 22nd April for a game played in sunshine and light rain that caused a lot of greasy ball action loved by all the old forwards. more.......

ACT Post Game Function

Click to View Larger VersionAs part of the April Fools Day Tournament the ACT Veterans arrange accommodation at the Olims Hotel Canberra and host the post game function there. It's a great opportunity to get together with all the other players from parts far and wide to swap stories and have a few drinks.

The cost of this function is by donation and all funds raised on the night go toward the George Gregan Foundation which builds playgrounds for children in hospitals around Australia. On the night $750.00 was raised and a cheque presented to Mr & Mrs Gregan (George's Mum & Dad). ... more.......

World Golden Oldies Festival 2006

The Gordon Stags attended the World Golden Oldies Festival in Wellington, New Zealand, and were greeted in fine style on a cold rainy day that left no doubt as to how the names "Windy Wellington" or "The Land of The Long White Cloud" came about. Though small on numbers we were big on enthusiasm and eager to get the festival under way.

The festival began with the opening ceremony, unfortunately because of the weather .........    more.......
